College Track and Field Recruiting

Tennessee Head Coach and Director of Cross Country/Distance Sean Carlson announced the program's signees for its 2023 class. The Vols and Lady Vols will welcome state champions from around the country to Rocky Top as the distance squad looks to build upon an impressive first year under Carlson.

Carlson is in his first year at the University of Tennessee after leading the Notre Dame men to unprecedented success. In his first season at UT, Carlson's men have qualified to the NCAA National Championships and are currently ranked #14 in the nation.

University of Tennessee, Knoxville is a public institution that was founded in 1794. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 25,067 (fall 2021), its setting is urban, and the campus size is 910 acres. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. University of Tennessee, Knoxville's ranking in the 2022-2023 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities, #115. Its in-state tuition and fees are $13,244; out-of-state tuition and fees are $31,434.

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is a public research institution located in one of the state's largest cities, and is the flagship campus for the state school. It has more than 40 fraternities and sororities for students to join. The UT sports teams are known as the Vols and the Lady Vols, short for Volunteers. The teams compete in the NCAA Division I Southeastern Conference, and football season is a particularly big draw at the school.

The university helps to manage the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where students and faculty tackle research projects. The University of Tennessee grants graduate degrees through its Graduate School of Business, law school, College of Engineering and College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, as well as a Space Institute, among other academic departments.
