Many high school athletes fail to seriously consider NCAA III track and field programs as they feel that the level of competition would not challenge them. However, a closer look at the performances these athletes produce would suggest differently for most. At this year's outdoor championship it took the following marks just to get to the meet as the last entry in the field...for the men 10.67/100m, 21.47/200m, 1:51.86/800m, 14:27/5K, 23'9"/LJ and 52'10"/SP - for the women it took 12.10/100m, 24.76/200m, 2:11.92/800m, 17:10/5k, 18'9"/LJ and 45'/SP just to get to the meet.
